I agree with the authors that the large range of success rates published in previous studies
can be attributed to a lack of uniform definition for “response.” Wiseman et al defined a
clinically substantial response as “significant regrowth resulting in greater than 75% of the
scalp being coveredwithterminalhair (asdeterminedbytheinvestigators).” A great advantage
of this study is that the patients were homogeneously distributed among 4 different groups
showing 25% to 49% hair loss, 50% to 75% hair loss, 75% to 99% hair loss, and 100% hair …
